San Antonio doesn't really have an off-season for festivals. January opens with one of the largest MLK marches in the country, February brings the Rodeo, April belongs to Fiesta, and the year closes with 200,000 lights in the cypress trees along the River Walk. In between are jazz on the lawn at Hemisfair, a green river for St. Patrick's, and a fall stretch of Día de los Muertos, Diwali and Luminaria that may be the city's best time to visit.
Below is the calendar season by season, with the next confirmed dates wherever an official organizer has published them. Where the next date isn't out yet, we say so and link the official site. Confirm before you book: dates and details change. For what's on in the next few days, see this weekend in San Antonio.

Spring: March, April and May
March: St. Patrick's River Parades and the green river
Every March the River Walk becomes the "River Shannon." It's dyed green with eco-friendly dye, and the weekend brings river parades, live entertainment at Arneson River Theatre, a festival at La Villita and an artisan show. Visit San Antonio and the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas have organized it since 1969. The River Walk's official calendar lists the 2027 celebration for March 13–14, 2027, along with the Emerald Run 5K. St. Patrick's on the River Walk

July: Fourth of July at Woodlawn Lake
The city's official Independence Day party is the H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park (1103 Cincinnati Ave.), presented with the San Antonio Parks Foundation. In 2026 it was free and ran from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with carnival rides, live music, food trucks and a fireworks finale at 9 p.m. The 2027 schedule isn't out yet. Check saparks.org in early summer.
August
August is the quiet, hot stretch. We didn't find a major citywide festival to list, so it's a good month for the shaded River Walk, museums and indoor dining. See our food guide.
